7,000 Years in the Making

When I was not allowed to board my flight from Amman to Dubai, I was very upset. I had planned to visit an old friend and enjoy the wild nightlife for a weekend in the city of excess. Because I had not arranged a Visa, the plan had to change. I franticly looked for a flight out of Amman to an interesting place. Thank God I had told the customs officer in Israel to forgo the stamp on my passport, I...Read More

Well here it is! I have been working at it for months, reprocessing every single image to make them look perfect for this, the biggest update yet. Aside from perfecting the image quality, I have added a ton of new features to the site. The first thing you will notice is that it is much more organized. I have arranged the collections into headings that will make it easier for you to see a specific ...Read More

Work Smarter... Dance Harder!

I consider myself VERY lucky. I have made my greatest passion into my career and I have the ability to take on only the jobs that I enjoy. On top of that, I get to travel the world for months at a time, photographing exotic tropical locations, culturally diverse people and landscapes that look like they are created in the studios of Pixar. OK, that is the sexy part of my job. The truth is that the...Read More

Today started as a recharge day. I have been going flat out from morning to evening every day for the last 2 months and I figured that I needed a day to unwind and relax. This was before my good friend and co-worker Diogenes Baena sent me a note saying how much he appreciated my work and images from this expedition. As soon as I got this note, it amped me up to head out and capture some more of Be...Read More

The World is Just Awesome...

Tags: andrew pateras, blog,travel,photography

I have come to realize that there are two types of people in the this world. People that watch the Discovery channel and people who do not. Nothing is wrong with either group, although I find that people that are interested in the world outside of reality TV are much more interesting to talk to.The catch phrase to Discovery channel''s Ad campaign "The World is Just Awesome" was p...Read More

An Incredible Day of History

Tags: Travel, Jordan, Photography

The Kingdom of Jordan was high on my list of places to visit for one main reason: The Ancient City of Petra. It was made extremely famous by the movie “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” where the final sequence was shot. Unfortunately, I did not see Sean Connery and Harrison Ford riding out on Horseback. There were only tourists today!  The drive from Amman to Petra is supposed ...Read More

Bearing Witness to a Miracle

This entire expedition was built around one thing: To spend Easter in Jerusalem. In fact, the only hotel that I had booked before leaving home was the hotel here in Jerusalem. I have finally arrived and it signals the pinnacle of a four month long expedition.  I drove into the city and I was immediately lost. Being such an old city, it was not designed with the automobile in mind. There are a...Read More
